Got a call back for a second in-person interview for the phone interview I blogged about bombing. So….yay!
Now for the task of finding appropriate interview clothes. Because I only have a few outfits that fit, where all of them almost every week, and none of them are appropriate for an interview.
Honestly at this point that’s kind of my main motivation for losing weight. It’s all fine to say that you shouldn’t try to lose weight etc etc but I can’t afford an entire new wardrobe and am pretty sick of wearing the same shit over and over again. I have a shitload of clothes, but they range from size 8 to 18, and the vast majority are size 12. In September I spent $200 on size 18 clothes so I had something to wear other than extremely tight stuff from when I was smaller. (One reason -other than depression and bad habits and being broke- I barely left the house in the summer was I couldn’t bear to go out in public in such tight clothing but that’s alll I really had.) $200 worth of clothes isn’t even that much though when you wear only those clothes over and over again. And now I’ve lost a bit of weight so the size 18s are starting to get too big, but I literally only have ONE pair of pants size 16.
And yeah I know Giant Tiger clothes are really cheap, you can get shirts for like 2 DOLLARS, but I have done that for the majority of the past year… when I was rapidly gaining weight last year and stuff stopped fitting —like every month or so stuff would become too small— I went to Giant Tiger to pick up a bunch of really cheap shirts so I at least had stuff to fit my torso into. (Wish I bought better quality stuff then while I had a paycheck and a student loan but I spent it most of the non-rent income on overpriced coffee beverages and food… and let’s be honest, coke [only did it like once or twice a month, and only like half a gram each time tops, but damn that shit’s expensive] {also adderall is almost as expensive when you have to buy it from drug dealers because you can’t get an appointment in a reasonable amount of time with the only doctor at the university health service who actually prescribes it <and even then if you don’t have insurance you’re totally fucked and might have to sell some of it at street price to make enough money to be afford to buy your monthly prescription>} .)
ANYWAY point is most of those Giant Tiger shirts have holes in them now. so. yeah. I think money needs to be part of the conversation when people are like ACCEPT YOUR BODY, LOVE YOUR LARGER SIZE, DRESS IT WELL AND RESPECT IT. like, yeah, but that’s not always that easy! i mean i have other reasons for wanting to lose weight than just that i’ll admit (def not past the fantasy of being thin) but it’s totes a factor.
